Izabella Gray, Talent Manager of Onyx Music Artist Management and Regional A&R Subdirector of Se7enth Fury Grammaton Records, gets a sneak-preview of Edgard Jo's new EP In My Memory. Here's an exclusive interview with the artist.
IG Edgard Jo, I was just listening to your new EP In My Memory. It has a very unique style and feeling - with a subtle nostalgic touch to it. Now, I've heard a lot of Trance albums and tracks, but yours stands out among my favourites! So, I am just so curious to know what do you actually want to get across and communicate with your music?
EJ Well, when I compose a track, I try to tell a specific passage of my life - a short tale, and at the same time, I try to get all people who listen to it to feel cheerful, with an inner relaxation that lets them get carried away with the energy and ethusiasm of my compositions.
IG Wow! You sure do get that across! You music is truly uplifting! And to this point, do you have any piece of equipment, gear or musical instrument you consider your personal mark - your signature, if you will?
EJ Actually, I don't have any special one, because for me, any instrument o piece of gear infused with your energy and feeling is what creates your personal seal or mark, but if I must, I'd have to say the synth because it's the main tool I compose with.
IG Ok! And, what is your next goal, objective or challenge?
EJ I would say that it's keep on improving myself, and to keep myself within the musical scene, because like it's said: it's easy to get there, but tough to remain.
IG Have your personal experiences radically defined your musical style?
EJ Yes, because I base myself on my experiences to create a composition, taking the most important aspects that happen in my life day to day, being it in love affairs, or in just hanging out and getting along with your friends, etc.
IG Oh, I see! And well, are you shy? What feelings and emotions do you get being in front of all the clubbers that enjoy your music?
EJ There are a lot of sensations, feelings and emotions that grab me just before walking in front of a crowd, one of them (and this has happened a lot) was a bit of nervousness and wanting to go pee (hahaha), but then when I'm just there on stage, well... it's just fabulous because to know that they like what I do, is.. you know.. wow! Every experience is a challenge, the thing is to just be yourself!
IG Fantastic! And what are your dreams? What do you dream about achieving?
EJ My dream is to travel the world with my music; I would like to work with the people that I admire, and as a fact, to meet Jennifer Rene (hahaha)... She is one of the trance singers I truly admire, but really, my dream is that people just totally enjoy my music and embark in the journey of each composition.
IG That is so cool! And so, Edgard Jo, what meaning does the title of the EP have for you?
EJ For me, In My Memory has a very special meaning, because in the EP there's a track with the same name - I reference the experiences that I've had with the people I've met and known and have walked with me through this path called life and specially because I've done it all in memory of my mother...
